Found a link about PAR:

biz.yahoo.com

After following the cited Web site for a while, it appears that PAR refers specifically to the system of providing analyst-quality reports on a company. We saw that report published on ALYA last month. I do not know how much the company pays for the privilege of being analyzed.

PAR is sponsored by the Investors Research Institute, Inc., which also offers to publicly-held companies the privilege of displaying certain proprietary "seals" if the company promises to adhere to specific elements of good shareholder relations. This appears to be a self-reporting program, and membership in the organization costs $600.

Quite frankly, I did not interpret this as being an award for outstanding shareholder relations, or whatever.

I do commend ALYA for taking the step and paying the money to signify that they believe in good shareholder relations.

And, as far as I can determine, the jury is still out as to whether the published PAR analysis actually does much for the share price. There are only still a relatively small number of companies which have undergone this analysis. If, over time, the analyses become far more prevalent and in general tend to prove out, then I reckon the general value of all such analyses will increase, but only time will tell.
