Steve -

I am hedged as you are as it is the only financially prudent course to take. But I disagree with your assessment of the global slowdown and it's affect on EMC's revenues. I believe EMC's core business is now thought of as non-discretionary spending for the WALMART's of the world. EMC has convinced big business that their systems will save money and make them more competitive.

Dear Steve: I believe EMC is presently uniquely situated to NOT suffer from current economic ills. One big reason in my mind is that the Y2K problem plays into their hands. Companies may need vast storage potential to run and test their programs for Y2K compliance. By the time this situation is stabilized hopefully the worlds economies will again be on an upswing. JDN
