OT

I was getting around to updating my Logitech mouse drivers when I thought about installing the middle mouse scroll feature I was using when I had Win95. Well Logitech just told me that the version of the program I have on disk that shipped with my mouse (V7.21) that handles the middle mouse button will not work fully in Win98(not stable). So I ask for an update or where I can find it on the web, to what I bought and was informed that its only on disk and will cost $10…? Why I ask should I spend $10 on such a simple update all I need is V7.5 NOT the newest version of your software V8.0 that ships FREE with ALL new Logitech mice anyway. The guy then asked me to buy the software or please hang up??? Well as you can guess this was met with a prompt replay to speak with the manager who basically told me to pay the $10 or F off. : )

Well I laughed at the rudeness : ) and asked how long have they been charging for this UPDATE to win 98. He said since Win98 came out and can I ether buy the software or let him go.

Well it was a good thing I was in a happy mood today it made this whole thing funny to me. But I will NEVER buy anything from Logitech again, that was just about the worst support ever… Can you believe some guy telling me to f myself for $10… I'd rather throw the $10 away then give it to Logitech now.

I even fell like getting a new Microsoft mouse now… this Logitech one is dirty : )

You're right, if CREAF succeeds in selling lotsa Encores, then the reported Group-level GMs will drop, but GMs for Encore by itself will have improved because of scale/maturity etc (even with the reduced prices). I'd rather have that than 33% GMs with very little filtering to the bottom line.

I don't think 5x DVD will incur much startup costs. It looks like one of those usual incremental improvements. Just change the Matsushita drive innards and write a few press releases. Marketing, packaging, channels etc all the same. No need to pump the Encore brand either.

BTW, what do you think of this 3DFX stake? Looks very interesting indeed. Creative is increasing it's intellectual capital (and patent armoury). Some people think 3DFX is a dog, I disagree. Isn't this IP-intensive thrust what we've all been hankering about, to sustain earnings in the era of Intel-dom (which I very much doubt is going to happen anyway)?
