I'm looking to buy a Banshee board. What's the best deal out there and are there any board makers I should avoid?

Also, has anyone played "NFL Blitz" or "Need For Speed" and how would you rate these games running on 3dfx technology?

I have a P166 with 32MB. Will the above mentioned games run on this system or am I wasting my time.

Thanks

>>And no blatant stickers on anything. Certainly no signs/sections. >>Maybe this is a rogue EB - what have others seen?

I think the 3Dfx sections of EB are way overrated. My local EB has all the TnT and Banshee cards on one shelf and the clerks don't know jack.

Even if EB clerks are wearing 3Dfx T-Shirts I don't think it will make one bit of difference. EB is not going to roll out efficient training mechanisms so that it's staff understand what Frames Per Second means. Customers are just as likely to walk out with a TnT by CL because CL is recognizable.

EB should be wholeheartedly discounted IMHO and 3Dfx should be flogged for their lame execution.

I'm going to play the bear here for a minute. Before earnings there was a lot of unrest on this board. Now that earnings are out and the snake charmers have had their CC many are saying they are soothed and are dreaming up fantastic TDFX futures.

I have to ask you, "what has changed in the fundamentals?" Before earnings I don't think many of us were happy with the fundamentals (or at least their general direction as related to management of product and expectations). Now that Management has had their chance to outlay a future and address major issues I have to say, "what has changed?"

Management sidestepped important questions and spoke positively about minor issues but the fact is we have no OEM and a fantastically lame ad campaign.

I'm still long but am sitting on the trigger. If there is no OEM by Dec 1 I am out with my losses and handing over my iron stomach to the brigade.

Regards,
Stuart

>I was decidedly non-plussed about the "tdfx display" - because it didn't exist

I agree c-horse. I go to that EB about twice/month, and I didn't even notice the video cards in the back of the store until I asked about a V2! I haven't, but you might want to check out the EB in Barton Creek mall to see if they have it set up any differently. I doubt it.

Babbages, and Supr Software (next to Barnes & Noble) have more distinct 3dfx sections, and it looks good!
