"why would a country that is planning to sell all of its reserves announce it to the world - to depress the price!"

Because they've already sold it in the futures market. And want to sell it a second time in three months.

Their is no conspiracy to deflate Gold. Why is it that everyone beliefs so? Why in the face of financial statments from producers, that everyone beliefs GOLD should be priced in 4 figures. At $300, it's $50 over priced. it's fairly priced at $275 considering where the US Dollar is. But if the US Dollar appreciates, as I suspect in the next while {starting Wed} Gold may very well find a way to make a new low.

When a commodity moves, it faces a lot of resistance as it makes new lows. Thier is always people that assume the trend is contrarian. Often they are wrong. And it's not until the fed blows it, that the trend shifts. Try matching economical data with Gold trends, you'd be surprised as how well they match. But what do I know?

After reread this Argentina articles, I feel the Gold market, did another knee jerk reaction. But the gold rally trend is nearly bust. Gold really should of been up today.
