Microsoft says that partners pick its products because they are better. For example, in the case of AOL, Microsoft argues, "In the words of AOL chairman and chief executive Steve Case: The more we learned about the Microsoft technology and their strategy and their commitment to the space, and particularly their modular architecture, we felt it would allow us to better meet the needs of our consumer audience."
The Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system are effectively ONE integrated product.

So stop ripping it apart!

What is to prevent Dell from going to IBM for an OS, browser and Spreadsheet/word processor product?

But there is something that is indeed preventing Dell from going to a company X for the OS, to another company Y for a word-processor, and to yet another company Z for the browser.

And that is what the DOJ is addressing right now...
