Thanks for the anecdotal evidence.

My position is that Katmai is not a necessary prerequisite for effective voice recognition software. It's not a sufficient condition either. Voice recognition is not either black or white. It's more like shades of gray, where any increase in horsepower will make the color lighter.

There are software packages that already do some voice recognition on lesser processors. I have seen some even before Pentium II, on Pentium MMx. I guess the software would be more effective if the same processor ran at 500 MHz, without KNI.

Your article seems to confirm it by saying they are only "enhancing" the software.

I bet it doesn't hurt to have press release where your company is "cotgratulated" by Intel, which will show up when people search for news on Intel.
