Don't be sorry, it wasn't rambling, it was very pertinant info. I've been exploring your suggestions and your links. You probably saved me several hundred dollars at least and possibly increased performance to boot.

I'm wrestling with how to meet the *hardware purchase required* thing for buying W98, WNT and MSOSBE (Office Small Business Edition) if I buy the MB/Mem/CPU bundle from mushkin - who doesn't carry W98 etc at any price. I think Clifford will OK it if I buy a hard drive. Still working out the nits. *edit: Clifford returned an email - Yes, hard drive meets requirements!* computer123.com

Master Repair & Armadillo Bros are towards the end of their tractor-trailer load of Viewsonic factory seconds. Next load expected in 2-4 weeks. They may also get some refurbished units which would be priced higher than the factory 2nds. I may just get one 21" viewsonic from wherever and get up and running on -just- one AGP/monitor first, and then upgrade to multiple monitors. Roland@MR tells me the P-series are the top quality, the PT-series has Trinitron tubes which give more vibrant color for photo-quality work, the G-series is the mid-tier, and the Optiquest line is Viewsonic's "value" line, and that all 21" units are quality units. Any mistakes in the last sentence are probably mine, not Rolands.

I'll forget about dual-cpu. I'll probably get the Celeron 300a - but not work on the overclocking aspects until I resolve more pressing issues.

Rev2 specs for TS-horse under construction...

Thanks for the feedback!
