The net may be deadly or negative to undifferentiated software companies. But TLC is a franchise vendor. Does it matter where your reader rabbit, sesame street, national geographic, oregon trails, or Dr. Seuss come from?

Your commentary is analogous to the comment that video on demand will be the death of blockbuster. Number one, it hasn't happened, number two, no one has ever said video on demand will be the death of the publishers and content providers. TLC is a publisher and a distributor, not just a distributor.

You can complain all you want about TLC's internet strategy, but they are working with it as a distribution mechanism right now. They're working on downloadable incremental chapters, dvd distribution of multiple titles and things like that. The key issue is that with the control of the content and the franchises, it won't take tlc long at all to take advantage of any changes in distribution that the net brings.
