Unfortunately, you cannot design a "conforming" PCI card that implements
SLI unless you include a bridge chip (which increases the cost). Without the
bridge chip, you would have 2 PCI loads on one card, which is not "proper".
So unfortunately, the base board would be burdended with the cost of
a bridge chip. Banshee is not capable of SLI.

I don't think that is what they were thinking at all. Corporations are not trading houses; they do not bet on short term fluctuations. The reasons are typically either a belief in the investments solid future, or strategic positioning of theirown business. Either way this is good news for TDFX.
