Wrong, Zoltan? Even the item you posted indicated there is still a difference of opinion on this subject. Surely one does not have to accept Mr. Buckley's.

As for your assertion that "innocent people did not suffer," logic alone suggests that when people can be fired on the basis of denunciations from anonymous informers, some innocent people are bound to suffer.

Well, what the heck, as Lenin once said, in connection with precisely this sort of thing -- "you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs."

Would you agree with Lenin on this point? <g>

>>> So you are wrong and you don't get it. The hunt was real and successful.

You mean that Roy Cohn et al found lots of Commies in the Army, spying on us, where they were looking for them? You mean all those Hollywood actors who went to meetings to support living wages for farmworkers, unions, and the United Nations were a real threat? Maybe because they had listened to foreign ideas over cocktails and talked the left wing line.

That kind of exchange of ideas is supposed to be very American. Like what we are doing here. If they could be arrested for the innocuous activities they had, you certainly could someday be arrested for the things I have seen you post here, under the wrong government. You of all people should think about promoting the first amendment right to free speech.

Sure there were spies. Often ideologically motivated. Were then. Are now. Sometimes they get caught. But not by congressional committees. The idea is ludicrous. They get caught by vetting and counter-espionage and the other standard strategies and tactics of the trade. Not by a bunch of political hacks with axes to grind.

To laugh.

>>> When is the murderous Left going to be held to account for their crimes against humanity? <<<

Gee, subtle bait.

Perhaps you'd like to be more specific. If this is intended as bait for me, you have the wrong guy. Stalin or Hitler, Franco or Mao, its all the same to me. Nixon vs. Johnson too. I don't have a wing, any more. Tried them all. All were found guilty. ;-|

Still, it was the left that beat Hitler, and closed the death camps. Gotta give them credit. It was the right that helped crush the Soviet economy and system, with counterfeit currency, espionage, embargoes, outspending on the military, a thousand little wars. Gotta give them credit for that, too. OK? Fair enough for you?

At this point I think both wings are weak, exhausted of ideas, run by complete wankers. The left-right paradigm has completely run it's course, and we need a new model for processing ideas.
