I think the confusion is partly because these guys were Congressmen before they were Senators, so they were on both committees. Perhaps Zoltan! would like to provide the exact memberships and dates for both committees, since he seems interested in the details. I believe the correct name was House Un-American Activities Committee, but perhaps it was Affairs. If nobody else wants to contribute the details here for you, I'll look them up. Of course all of this has been extensively 'revised', as per Buckleys current revisionism, so one has to cut through the candy coating that has been applied. Both Kennedys were involved. What you have to remember is that Joe McCarthy, the elder, was a democratic right wing player, besides being a gangster. The were plenty of those, coming from the gangster controlled unions, and lots of segregationist southern 'Yella-Dog' democrats as well in those days. Union support was not considered part of the left wing package by absolute definition then. Thus the Teamster support for Nixon, and Nixon's use of the Teamster thugs against anti-war demonstrators during Vietnam. Cohn was known to be a closet homosexual to the committee. All of them knew he was blackmailing his connections to get testimony against actors and others. The Kennedys used to jibe with him after the cameras were off about his preferences, and he would pay them back with jokes about their womanizing. In those days that was safe, because the press would never report such things. Roy Cohn died a few years ago of aids, as did Terry Dolan, founder of NicPac, and his partner. This is why liberal gays are outing all of these conservative gays. They are a shame to them, and a danger to the country. Cheers, Chaz
