People are talking about fibre channel for real. This time, it is "just around the corner". Check it out;

The Reality of Storage Area Networks
Director, Architecture and Advanced Technology, Storage Division
Dell
Pima Room
Tuesday, 10:30am

We have been hearing for years the promise that "Fibre Channel is ready" in the Windows NT environment. The reality has been that "ready" meant "real soon now". What is changing is that "real soon now" has moved to "just around the corner" and will have practical applications that can translate into real savings in time, complexity, and resources. In this presentation, we will take a look at the realities of Storage Area Networks, how you can put them to work for you, and the associated relevant technology trends and directions.

Monday, 4:00pm

HP understands that for all customers, their data center operation is directly proportional to their business revenue. HP is committed to providing stress free storage solutions that incorporate leading technologies, like Fibre Channel and VERITAS software, to enable customers to focus on their business issues, not their IT issues. Customers require availability, reliability and manageability. HP, with its partners, guarantees customer satisfaction in our ability to meet these requirements. HP Storage Area Networks (SANs) are strategic in meeting these guarantees.

Birds of a Feather Session: SAN Plumbing
Ancor
Apache Room
5:30-6:30pm

This talk is about the Fibre Channel networking technology that is used to build Storage Area Networks (SANs). We call it "SAN Plumbing", because, to the VERITAS software product, the Fibre Channel hardware is the plumbing. The talk describes the components of the SAN, adapters, cables, switches, and hubs, and how they are put together to provide the SAN hardware infrastructure or "plumbing". It covers Fibre Channels capabilities as a flexible technology which is used for both Network LAN, messaging traffic and Storage SAN data traffic. The software management capabilities of the Fibre Channel hardware are also described.

Using VERITAS Technology to Build a Better Network-Attached Storage Solution
Storage Systems Architect
LSI Logic Corporation, formerly Symbios
Pima Room
Tuesday, 11:30am

This presentation will define "Network-Attached Storage" and describe its features and benefits of scalability, high availability, ease of use, simplified management and multi-protocol support. Also, the facilitator will address how MetaStor storage systems by LSI Logic has used VERITAS technology to enhance storage technology using Fibre Channel to build a storage area network (SAN) solution.
