Jozef, if the bulk of your app's processing time involves simple integer calculations, the M2 might win. But this is unlikely. My guess is that there are other programs running on your PIIs that are consuming CPU cycles.

Close all Windows then touch Ctrl+Alt+Delete and check to see what's running. Anything other than SYSTRAY and EXPLORER are potential problems. FINDFAST is a definite problem and it should be removed from your StartUp list unless you absolutely require it.

Shut down any other programs with End Task and rerun your tests. If the PII's don't tromp the M2 I'd suspect a hardware problem. Try copying a file on both PCs to the network and check to see if you get similar throughput (cabling problems can downshift 100BaseT to 10BaseT). If that doesn't work, you've got CMOS setup troubles or a bad jumper setting.

Try downloading Wintune97 or later from your favorite shareware site to help locate the problem. Unless you run a test designed by CYRX engineers, a PII/350 will always beat an M2/PR233 ...whether it be a DOS app or Windows NT.

If you need further help, feel free to email privately.
