Hi Spots

I'm going to restore the registry using the back up I made about a month ago. I have a couple of questions before I do it:.

How will it affect the programs I downloaded after I backed up the registry? I'm not thinking they will work right. Would it be best to delete/uninstall them first?

Any tricks or quirks involved in restoration?

Policies. Didn't know I was setting policies--I think I'll stick with TweakUI for a bit <g>.

If anyone else wants an easy way to tweak the registry, I found this program, from Microsoft, on ZDNet. It has a good explanation of what TweakUI can do, as well as the download site:

zdnet.com

Thanks again Spots; I like the learning that takes place around here. I've been lurking the Dream Machine thread and have been picking up a lot of info from you and the other guys there.

That "Log Off" thing came with this version of Win 95, version B I think it is. Just something annoying sitting above "Shutdown" on the Start menu.

Lou

<<BTW, what log off prompt on the start menu? Can't
recall ever seeing such a thing.>>
I first noticed the log off feature after fiddling with network neighborhood (to get rid of an annoying password problem).
