The Sandinistas were never supported by the people, as the their landslide defeat revealed.

Every mainstream historian credits the Reagan Doctrine with that success, not the failed Jimmy Carter.

Let Zolt! have his flights of fancy. He is harmless to most folks equipped with the facts---its the others I worry about.

Not one of my favorite people ( though I admired her will and right headedness re: Iraq 1991 ) Thatcher pleads with her gov't to release the murderer, Pinochet.

She gives as her justification: " he was a good friend of Britain during the Falklands...."

I love it...kind of like the Arab quip: the enemy of my enemy is my friend; applying, here, to both Chile and England during that mini war. Little did Pinochet realize at the time that England's victory was the beginning of his own demise---starting of course with the undoing of the Argentine Generals.
