Is claiming damages the main point, maybe it's not. Of course with the number of IS-95 systems out there their is sure to be a large settlement and would probably signal an end to Qualcomm providing IS-95 solutions. This is not to say that Qcom could not find another way in the long-term. Another question though is what about the poor operators that have installed such systems, where would their "upgrade" come from? From the statement we can deduce, 3 patents have been further strengthened and the other 5 are already strong enough. Ericsson would only take this action if they have a cast-iron case, surely? Can no way believe that Qualcomm can win. For share us share holders, wouldn't damages be put in Ericsson earnings? Any award, although big, will surely not increase overall earnings that much when compared to Ericy's turnover. But what do I know?! So, it seems my feeling is the same as yours Richard.
