Tip, <can you short against the box to move gains to the next year in Canada?> I don't know but I will look into that. Re my gold fund... My loss from selling my gold fund will offset my gains in amat, and I could just switch into a different gold fund, my $$$ from selling one gold fund and buying another would probably end up about the same a year from now compared to leaving the original fund alone, but at least this way I've realized (taken tax advantage of) my loss. I hope I'm not missing something here. Thanks again, and by the way, If you have any suggestions concerning my questions about options in my original post addressed to MB I would certainly appreciate your input. miklosh
