One reason, though a little far out, may be that a former VP of MU is now working for TMC. Producing material in the US, Washington state. They are a foundry BUT making DRAMs too.

There are DEEP pockets in Taiwan, should be interesting to see what happens.

Seems Micron is going after marketshare, and since Taiwan is in the best position to compete for marketshare...guess who gets slammed with anti-dumping...not Japan, not Korea...little ole' Taiwan with less than 10% of the DRAM market.

Intel might have been better off putting $500M in a Taiwan DRAM fab
