Only the nincompoop will claim a rejection of homosexuality equates to hatred and promotion of violence against the homosexual. And only a nincompoop will claim rejection of homosexuality sufficient justification to kill or hate a homosexual. I once had an article published in a local liberal newspaper on this issue. To my surprise, the response in support of my position was so great, I wrote another article, which was also published elsewhere. Evenutally a reader wrote criticizing the publication and claiming I hated her because she was lesbian, a thing that could not have been farther from the truth. I responded publicly to her letter, and in that response invited her to my home for dinner, expressing my sincere desire to befriend her. She wrote me privately the most hateful letter I have ever received, assaulting my family and I personally and not my position. That is hate.
