To the genius who posted this:

<<<<As cheaper computers allow more and more people on line, do you really see internet
commerce slowing down?

Amazon only has 1-2% of the book market. It has a long, long, way to grow. Not
counting music, videos, and who knows what else, from wine to software.

If Walmart is worried about them maybe you should be too. Walmart doesnt even sell
books. >>>>>>>

1. Walmart suing amzn to protect it's inventory mgt system which is the envy of ANY retailer, does not validate amzn as dominant in books or music in the long run, let alone as walmart's competition.
2. AMZN's ceo is on record as stating (last 1/4's cc) that he expected a maximum of 10% of the book market to ever go online. This is a long, long way to grow??? Videos? Wine? Software? I can name 3 sites that already have a substantial lead in each category -- the idiocy of this comment is matched only by the paucity of anything resembling analysis.

Like William, I too get very annoyed by any comments not grounded in some analysis. Unlike William, I'm not terribly polite when annoyed.

<<<>>are you listening william?

It's not easy to read your rants, but yes. You are 100% full of sh*t. >>>

William:

How proud the brotherhood must be. Do you, like me, experience any cognitive dissonance when the same person trots out, unprompted, details of his life and training in the priesthood to prove his ethics (and perhaps morals too, but that, as I am sure you know, is another matter entirely), then tells someone that s/he is full of sh-t???

OC annoys me as well. But he is not full of anything other than delusional paranoia which would be rectified if he stopped detaching his lithium drip. I suggest instead that you first reflect the mirror on yourself.
1. As HJM said you think that fundamental analysis is a casino in CA. You show a remarkable propensity for ignoring questions posed to you that relate to valuation or to business strategy.
2. You're posting here for the same reason the rest of us are ... you want to make $$$. So any pretense to learning, and there is some that goes on here, is tinged as always with the common ulterior motive -- make bucks. We also probably find that it helps us psychologically to have our views validated -- you have Bateman and Mark, I have HJM, Glenn and others (I guess OC has Olu E for delusional conviction in their own powers of market prediction and/or conspiracy) -- I'll take my chances with those who know not only what a dcf is, but can run one.
3. You act as though the mere fact the stock goes up, validates your "analysis." (which so far as I can tell, ends with "I believe in the stock, and it's going up so I must be right."). In fact it merely proves that at this juncture in history you could be
a. right and amzn has a winning bus plan
b. wrong, but the majority of investors have not figured that out yet.
and/or
c. lucky that you have no friggin idea what the hell you're talking about, but fortunate that the investing world finds itself the happy home of seemingly endless supplies of morons who invest in crap stocks (ie overvalued) without any ability to analyze them for themselves (please see Iomega (btw, you really think that selling books has more barriers to entry than zip drives!!!!???), Presstek, repeated boom-busts in biotech, gold stocks etc ...)

So kindly stop pontificating and acting like the arbiter of sanity and reason here.

I can't believe I just spent all this time typing to defend OC

PS William, as you remember, I still very much hope that you keep up your prolific posting -- having a sane bull around (no offense grimmy) is important -- after all when you threatened to take your ball and go home, i pleaded with you to stay (though I know it was addiction to posting here and not my entreaties which kept you with us).
