Patrick,

The only thing I can think the mini is good for, besides position trading, is learning to trade. With ZAP the mini commission is something like a total of $42 or so, including all exchange fees etc...I just say it is one point. Makes it simple. So, if I can trade the mini and basically stay flat on my capital account, I am building confidence to day trade the large where I certainly would gain tremendously.

My numbers from my paper trading, including input errors, judgment errors, the whole nine yards...were:

Average Win 67%
Average Losers 33%

Average Gain 2.64
Average Loss -2.22

That is overall numbers. The last few weeks they were decidedly better, but let's run that against the mini.

Win times Gain = 1.76
Lose times Loss = -.74

So on average I was up one point per trade overall. This covers the commission. Certainly if I could put up better numbers, I have not made any real coin, but the confidence level etc has got be there from a trading standpoint. So I think the mini has two functions as a trading vehicle. The first as you point out a position trading system and the second as a training device. The only other thing it might be good for is hedging a portfolio of stocks.

My two cents...what you are left with after trading the mini....

-Scott

I see your point.I guess the next logical question is...Does the E-Mini's electronic order entry provide for quicker/better fills to make up for the higher commission cost?

Anyone want to sound in on this issue?:)
