mrkonwitall, I hear the wireless LMDS is being targetted toward businesses in Metropolitan areas. There are few cable HFC lines, and not much movement on xDSL in downtown business districts. I was trying to purchase LMDS spectrum for just this purpose. The height of downtown building, and commercial property make it ideal for LMDS. I had MMDS from BellSouth, but I needed a beacon to keep low flying planes from hitting it,and the homeowner's association president was real angry with all the dead flamingos in my front yard,it seems they can't get enough height quick enough to avert collisions.
Also in Dallas, HLIT installed MetroDWDM for TCI in the suburbs in 3 days, and is passing somewhere around 250,000 homes nationwide, a good percentage is in the Dallas suburbs. From what I hear there were lots of engineering hurdles to overcome.
