The poster on Yahoo does not state that Cal told him to expect announcements in 99, additionally, I find it odd that Cal would disclose when an OEM would be announced (or not be announced). Somewhat of a strange post if you ask me.

I had earlier (last several months) been under the incorrect impression(and had relayed same to board) that a "majority" of OEM's would be announcing by the end of 98. Today, Cal corrected me. He was in no means negative and in fact said "now you understand that we had many things going on that we couldn't speak about". He is clearly excited about future prospects. BUT, I think that I may have had an unrealistic expectation of a LOT of OEM's coming forward yr98. Instead, he painted a more realistic longer term outlook into 1st half 99. This would not be the first time that their timing and in fact everyone elses in the FC market, was too optimistic (as well as my own!). This was not meant to be cold water on our chances... quite the contrary, but it may still be 99 before we see a BIG spike up. I also think that Cal is considerably more circumspect than Ken in making anything that could be construed as a forward looking statement :-) He also said that the interop was a BLOWOUT success and that he was having one FC company after another call and congratulate him for stealing the show (despite that he did not attend himself) <--- this was as a result of the 8-port switch announcement, which they(ANCR) view as a major coup. Sorry for any ambiguity in my earlier post, I hope this clears that up. For the record, I am wayyyy bullish and buying big time under $5. Mark <>< Also, it's $7 million DOLLARS as opposed to 7 million SHARES " My Thoughts Remember also that Cal is not counting the short position in the 7 million dollars. The short position could account for as much as 4 million dollars worth (that means about 3 million left). A case could also be made for some of the preferred holders staying long at this point. What they have left is pure profits and they may want to let it run. Cal also said the majority of OEMs in 1st half of 99, this does not mean that there are not 3 or 4 OEMs that will be deciding in 98. Cal could not comment on some of these because of NDA. Tom

Walter, I'm not trying to discredit the poster known as "mag48" on Yahoo, BUT I would take the Yahoo postings with a healthy grain of salt. For instance, the same "mag48" guy you are quoting also posted the following ( I cut and pasted directly off the Yahoo ANCR board ) which specifically threw cold water on the "rumored" 8 port switch. OBVIOUSLY, 1)he was grossly mistaken on the 8 port switch, 2)he deliberately lied about the 8 port switch OR 3)Ancor deliberately misled him in order to prevent Brocade from getting an advance heads up on their product plans.IF you believe that he was given "disinformation", then why would you believe any new "information" from the same source? On the other hand, there has been another Yahoo poster named "ASIC_1" whom I have found to be the most credible in terms of the accuracy of his predictions.ASIC_1 has made some VERY interesting posts, eg, "the color purple" ( the color of the new 8 port switch ), HDS, Netmarks, new re-spun MKII ASIC which enables Ancor to do both private and public loop. RECENT POST FROM MAG48: mag48_ANCR Sep 4 1998 5:55AM EDT OK, more stuff from the front lines. As you recall, management spoke to insider buying and it occurred... perhaps not huge numbers but these guys don't have huge $ personally (yet) and also one of them pointed out to me yesterday that once their money becomes invested, it is highly illiquid as any selling would naturally ignite even more senseless rumors. Also they hinted at the BA deal over a month ago and that has now come to pass... Well good news if you believe. Management confirmed that in their opinion "many" <define that please?> company's would soon be making their OEM decisions and ANCR would "get their share" ...now naturally they can't guarantee anything, but after my conversations recently, I am of the opinion that at least THEY believe the long wait is over and more than once it was emphazised BEFORE the end of the year... I have taken to giving credance to things spoken to several times in a row. Also I would characterize the mood of management as very upbeat and confident... this of course is incredibly presumptive on my part. I also asked of several other rumors going around 1. gigabit ether net adapter to FC ---> nope 2. 8 port FC switch ---> nope FWIW, in each case it was said that these are just rumors. hope this is of some help Mark <><
