John: You may want to check out the market commentary of Don Hays.

wheatfirst.com

He has one of the best records on Wall Street. Like Abbey bullish all the way up, but unlike Abbey turned bearish last summer. Now sees the market in a wide trading range over the next 6 months with another powerful bull beginning next spring. And this bull will be lead by small caps and economically sensitive issues -- not today's blue chip darlings.

Euro's Backers Scheme

nypostonline.com

<< You don't think of a bunch of bureaucrats in Brussels and Frankfurt, shuttling from one interminable conference to another. But that is the face of a new, and intrinsically hostile, financial power.

The euro, the currency of continental Europe, is coming into being on Jan. 1, and it is becoming clearer that its backers plan to use it to dethrone the dollar from its role as the main global reserve currency.

This isn't trivial, since we are now very dependent on rest of the world, and Europe in particular to finance our economy.

While the federal deficit has been put off to the future, the U.S. private economy needs a lot of foreign capital. It's a lot easier to get it if we can pay it back in our own money. If the Euros have their way about the euro, we won't. >>

Hi John,,

Got the wood shed half full at the cottage,,, been banging on cedar shingles for the last few weekends,, looks beautiful but is definitely labour intensive,,, got to get it done before the snow flies.. Lost a few weekends after i fell off the roof 7 weeks ago, and put my back or something totally out of commision, but it's improving every week now..

So far there is no indication of a tough winter that I can see...

cheers, russell
