Paul, re:"companion data will be transmitted simultaneously at 1 Mbit/second as part of the DTV signal to Intel architecture-based PCs capable of receiving DTV signals."

Does such a thing exist? Perhaps you have an URL to such a PC?

Jeff

<Fred & Intel Investors - Intel will Participate in Initial HDTV Broadcasts>

Although you were first to post this article, Paul, I had always known that Intel was already eyeing HDTV as new territory for growth. I mean, Intel would be crazy NOT to pursue this. Remember that Intel constantly searches for new uses for faster CPU's so that they can continue to stimulate demand for high-end processors.

I'll bet that Intel Architecture Labs (IAL) has a project going on which is looking at software-only HDTV decoders for the PC. If not, I'll gladly do it. If such software-only decoders require the use of a P7 Willamette processor, then I can see $$$ in the long-term future of Intel on the desktop.
