<I'm using them to enforce selling shares> Excellent point. I bought amat @14 split adjusted and froze in my tracks as it shot past 50, up and down. Now I'm looking at amat calls for exactly the same reason you stated. BTW do you ever buy puts for insurance on the same stock that you've sold calls on (less profit potential overall, but better sleep overall <g>).

If I were to buy calls, I would do them for 3 or 4 months
out into the future as you're doing.

But, I probably would sell or restructure 1 to 2 months
before the expiration day. Waiting until the last few
weeks in this type of market environment (very volatile)
seems pretty risky.
