Mark,

I too am considering Dragon's Naturally Speaking. I would be interested in your experience with it, or anyone else's for that matter.

New ways to gouge
Imagine going to a restaurant where the menu has no prices and your bill is based on how hungry you are. You've just entered the realm of "discriminatory pricing." It's already a common phenomenon in the mail-order business. Catalogs with identical goods are shipped to different neighborhoods with different prices, based on how much the retailer thinks residents of each area are willing to pay. With the advent of the Web, it becomes much easier to implement discriminatory pricing at the individual level. A site can track your purchase history, determine how price-sensitive you are and charge accordingly. Just when you thought those online "shopping engines" would give you a leg up, Forbes says you've got it all wrong.

PS: I do agree, though, that we will probably save by buying on the internet. Taxes plus greater choice/competition gives us a much better position than being forced to buy locally.

Regards,

Larry
