I posted a message on the Motley Fool Adaptec board (which is generally not as active or useful as this board, but sometimes has goodies) and received the following private mail response. Requested and received permission to post here, with attribution.

Me being an authorized super geek, I would agree with the opinion that
anything more than 4 years old is obsolete and worthles... EXCEPT
SCSI..... at this point it is the most reliable bus out there IMHO, at
least for servers... fibrechannel is not nearly mainstream yet and will
take years to become so (note the stress on years... if in 5 years, ADPT
is mostly SCSI, I would leave soon, but that is in 5 years)

Colin Glinsman described how he managed Oppenheimer Quest Balanced Value Fund to rise 16% this year: "Our strategy is to buy a stock selling substantially below its intrinsic value. We'll buy it even if the outlook seems unfavorable if we believe there is good management and a good business." The fund reportedly beat 91% of all funds in the last 36 months. It has 55% of assets in stocks. It owns just 18 stocks. Adaptec is its 3rd largest holding at 4.5%.

According to the IBD article I read today (no link), "The fund made an initial investment in Adaptec in the 20s earlier this year. However, part of the business came under competitive pressures and the stock tumbled to 9. When that happened, the fund tripled its position. Glinsmen sees its worth at 30."

Maybe he borrowed my glasses.
