<My friends at Dell say they have a backlog...>

But Donnie,, you must be mistaken... Lucretius spoke with his source at Dell early last week, and his source said that salesman are having trouble meeting their quota (remarkably, word for word, what M. Bartiromo passed on "as rumor" on CNBC)...hmmm..I'm starting to doubt your credibility...who are you, really? What are your motives? <just kidding... for the uninitiated>

Venkie, and have you heard from your friends about the server line, the high end products are flying out of RR. (I think its RR, not Braker) but anyway.... volume on the server line surely means an explosive qtr to the upside.

donnie -
they have a backlog of over 55 k systems
At Dell's current run rate this is less than 2 day's production, not a huge backlog...
On the other hand it is twice their average backlog in 2Q.

Got to keep these things in perspective, Dell is up there in the big leagues now in terms of run rate.

Venkie,

I think that DELL may be working off its backlog of XEON 4 way servers since INTC just announced the fix for the 4-way last week.
These are mid-range servers and carry a nice ASP and better than average margins. These enterprise products may give DELL a nice margin and ASP boost this quarter and next.

DELL should be able to clear any backlog of orders before the end of the month.
