The Yahoo! thread is having a useful discussion for a change. One
poster says MRVC has NEVER had a profitable period (Year over year).
Another says the Cumulative Net Income WAS positive prior to the
Xyplex acquisition, and is only negative now because of the Xyplex
charges.

This is an interesting topic for analysis. The annualization of the
numbers for accounting purposes shows gains for 1994 and 1997 and
losses for 1995, 1996 and 1998. But what do the numbers show if we
do a running (cumulative) calculation?

I don't have pre-1994 data so I started in 1994 and tabularized
the quarterly numbers, including Columns for Cumulative Operating
Income and Cumulative Net Income.

As you can see MRVC has had BOTH positive and negative periods and
we are working our way out of the latest on now. MRVC was positive
for all of 1994 and 1997, and half of 1995 and 1996.

The numbers show that unless there are more charges, MRVC should
turn back positive on Operating Income in Q3 1998 and on Net
Income in Q4 of this year. Especially note the second column
(pre-charge Operating Income) - a very nice string of steadily
INCREASING numbers.

I don't see what all the fuss about being negative at the moment is,
other than propaganda for shorts. This looks to me like an
aggressive small company growing very nicely through acquisitions.

I will update this again after Q3 earnings.
