In all fairness, there are many who muse about the spiritual who do their damndest to make the world a better place - not that I think there's any causative relationship between the two phenomena.

The ones who muse bother me less that the ones who squawk publicly about their spirituality, then use the noise to justify behavior that negates all that they say.

There are rather a lot of them, as you (and Pascal) have mentioned. Nothing blackens the name of religion as thoroughly as the behavior of the loudly religious.
