No - Avid is not tied to HDTV especially. It does however need to respond to the need to produce NLEs that work in realtime with HDTV images. As HDTV has significantly more data per frame (is it 16x NTSC ?), that is not a simple task. But it will be done. HDTV will require equipment upgrades across the board as it gains popularity, which is good for Avid when Avid has HDTV-capable product.
