I am a cable modem user and it does work well. The problem from what I understand is that the cable companies don't have the infrastructure to maintain high speeds when the system gets busy. The telco's will have this ability with XDSL and will not have the bottleneck that cable will see in the future. Assuming all of this is true and XDSL gets price competitive, it should be a winner.
