I believe that people will think twice about posting false or misleading info if they know that they can be identified

Some of the worst offenders apparently have used their real names.

Cleaning up the Internet is almost like being trapped in a carnival house of mirrors, with a little smoke thrown in. Most of these promoters know this and exploit this fact along with investors greed to the max. The SEC and NASD are big buearacratic <sp?> beasts that takes forever to get turned in the right direction, to be honest looking at the "punishment" doled out so far, they may in fact be sort of toothless beast to boot.

My opinion is the key is investor education, with a little critical and analytical thinking mixed in. You cant protect investors from themselves, there are millions of blown calls every day... I know I kick myself on a regular basis <g>

Ever notice when someone brings up a point or question on a thread? But people are shouted off the thread and the question is'nt answered or not in a rational manner ... this is'nt analytical thinking, its the siege mentality "gotta protect my investment" and that is the biggest red flag I can think of on a stock thread but I make it a point not to agitate provoke or even post in many cases, just quitely move on.

There are a few people out there "the bashers" that provide an acid test for stocks, love 'em or hate 'em they do serve as a balance, whether it is an objective balance I dont know. 90% of the time all this turns personal, threatening or "ruling through intimidation" Thats the ultimate red flag to me.

Gotta think for yourself folks, no one can protect yourself from yourself.

KAA

Well it appears that the SEC served S.I. with subpoenas requesting the true identity of posters so your point about anonymity is redundant.

purething (real name Hugh G. Rection)

p.s. Using my real name on chat boards causes me no end of problems.

Question: What if a crook posts from Outside the U.S. ?? Seriously: What if somebody is in Canada, or Mexico, or a Furrin Country, Or, better yet, sitting on a cruise ship 21 miles off of the California Coast ?? I know this is a reach, but what the heck ? It happens.....
