Thanks Paul,

<< AMD's 3DNOW will render its chips incompatible with Katmai and should pose less downward pressure on prices next year. >>

Is there anything AMD can do to prevent this?

I guess it's in Intel's best interest to pump up the marketing a little extra to get that Katmai shooting out of the barrel with flames on it. I know what you meant now by saying that you really hope they already had Kats out there.

May I make a radical suggestion for an ad campaign 45 second spot for Intel? Have Katmandu, the classic song from Cat Stevens (on his greatest hits), playing in the background as we see selected shots of groups of business people at work and individuals at home (some in serene settings...ie. guy on laptop in boat fishing). The song is so cool and mellow and a little different (lyrics read well for going into new millineum), it would grab your attention and pull you into that name Kat Stevens style. Too radical? ;-)
