Hi Dennis, My Idiot Wave is based upon a bunch of data that's been smoothed with moving averages (about 13 weeks). The IW Oscillator is actually the difference between the "real time" data and the smoothed data. So, if the number is negative, it means the real time data is of lower risk than the overall Idiot Wave reading. You can read a negative value as "Risk Is Declining." The opposite is true for positive values.

It really only has meaning when it's a larger number or when we have a string of several weeks when it's either positive or negative. This would indicate a "trend."

Best regards, Tom
