That's true but did you notice their main target market, the elderly. It's like a loss leader in retail to lure the unsuspecting into the trap then talk them up in price. Since older people (IN GENERAL) tend to be a little less knowledgeable when it comes to high tech IBM is probably licking their chops. The second market is the very young, first time user. They are probably the second most vulnerable group. If this works they'll probably start targeting third world nations.

MichaelW - C'mon, do you really believe IBM is shipping these systems without a mouse, keyboard and operating system??? What's granny going to do when she opens the box, go back to Circuit City, buy a copy of WIN98, and get right down to installation???

By the way, many on the thread seem to think it is an AMD chip and that this is BAD!!! Check out the Topfer comments on alternate CPU sources that was posted a couple days back. This machine is shipping with an IBM manufactured MPU that is based on a Cyrix design.
