I think Pentium was a code name. It certainly wasn't the name of Grove's dog. Going public with a code name ...who cares if it only helps sales. ;-) Maybe the ad could be more sutle, without ever mentioning Katmai or Cat Stevens, but just having it implied by saying "New Xeons on the high end, Celerons on the low end, and the new Katmai's in between...there's never been comparisons...Intel" ;-)
