Mitsubishi To Postpone Future Operations At Its U.S. Polycrystal Silicon Fab

Source: NIKKEI WEEKLY Date: 10/19/98 Page: 06

ABSTRACT: Japan's Mitsubishi Materials Corp. will postpone full operations at its U.S. polycrystal-silicon plant, completed in May, until the spring of 1999. This is due to bleak prospects for silicon sales in the midst of a global decline in semiconductor demand. Mitsubishi's U.S. subsidiary has an annual capacity of 1,000 metric tons of polycrystal-silicon, used in semiconductor production.
