Dr. Brice, we love you, and all, and Lord knows, we need anesthesiologists, but it's very hard to accept that someone who is able to put $120,000 a year in a retirement plan is getting the short end of the stick. <g>

p.s. My dad is a dentist, so I have been listening to the rap all my life. Try to imagine what your life (and bottom line) would be like if, like most business people, you could only charge what your customers could actually pay, instead of getting paid by a third party with more-or-less deep pockets. Why do you think I sue doctors for a living? Because, as you know, the insurance companies pay better than Joe Sixpack.<vbg>

Brice, 30 cents on the dollar? They must like you. <G>

I think our current system is the worst of all possible worlds, while the care is the best. Or at least it was before we had HMOs demanding that mothers leave the hospital an hour before they give birth to save money. <G>

There has to be some control, even if not a full-fledged national plan. Right now, the idea that doctors might accidentally have to compete caused the AMA to limit the numbers of folks who could enter medical schools. O.K., maybe it isn't the best area for capitalism to shine its competitive light on the world. But if there is no competition, then there has to be control. In this economy, we are either a competitor, a monopoly with price controls, or Microsoft.

The only occupation that should be allowed to make unlimited amounts of money is Portfolio Manager. <VBG> We all have an ox we hope will never be gored by reality.
