Competition wouldn't be bad at all, but I'm not sure how it would work. I would and have paid more for better care.

Dentists for example. Where I work we have a plan with two providers in the little town where I live. They are terrible. I quit the plan and got to another dentist. It found it doesn't cost more to get something done right the first time.

What is needed is some way for the public at large to discover how effective or useful the care is that is being provided by the different doctors before going. This is hard. It's like other professions. The buggers stick together and protect their own, good or bad.
