I did not short it, I wished to see if it could move little higher first.

All these errors are making me a little cautious, which is fine.

<I left the bank totally embarrassed.>

The trials and tribulations of the rich. I once had to deposit a check for a relative into a checking account. Back when Interest Checking did not exist. He had just sold a business and had a ton of cash coming in to his branch of the family. The check was for almost a half million. I knew all along he was nuts. Who puts a half million into a non-interest bearing account? He was the kind of guy who always wanted to have some cash if he saw something he wished to buy...NOW.

So I never mentioned it to anyone and about a year later his daughter mentioned to me that she had put an identical amount into a checking account in a different branch. What in God's name could this guy want with that kind of money on hand in a checking account?

When he passed on, his accountant told me at the Wake that he had upwards of 4 Million in checking accounts; none interest bearing.

Perhaps he was anticipating a big sale at Barney's?
