Greetings Gregor,

A good solid word you posted.

Regarding moths and flames....

Most applicable without mention of the moth but supporting your thought is 1st Corinthians 3:15 "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

Mentioning the moth is Psalm 39:11 "When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity..."
Every other mention of a moth that I am aware of in scripture refers to corruption or decay caused by the critter.

Superiority in faith over another that you mentioned...
How much of it do we see in people that have the attitude "I HAVE ARRIVED" in reference to their own spiritual walk.
I detest self pride especially if I recognize it in myself. It is very damaging to the Christian walk and a tremendous stumbling block to others because it is so easily recognizable. No wonder God hates a "proud look".
Not relying too much on feelings as they tend to be unreliable but what do you think of Jane's comments? I too have a sense of anticipation. Of what, I don't know. I'm not looking for it but just making an effort to be consistent and obedient by God's grace and waiting on what He will do. I trust in His leading. Let's please be mindful of praying His hedge about one another.
In Christ,
John

Hi Gregor,

Very timely on the grace issue. I've had correspondence with a fellow at work who is going through the battle of "Am I really saved?" thinking that he has lost his salvation due to his falling into the same sin repeatedly.
The mind is a tremendous battle ground for doubt and anywhere that the flesh or Satan can try to take advantage. I find it very fitting on this topic of grace that the armour in Ephesians, in particular the "helmet of salvation" protects the head, our mind.
There are tremendously subtle manipulations that occur amongst God's people, such as what Grant experienced. I have a suspicious nature and prefer to challenge things that I perceive as out of line, especially in church. Private agendas sometimes abound.
There is no sanctuary in our luke warm church age, we must stand for sound doctrine and prove by the scriptures what is presented by all. God's word is infallible.... yet some still bring a curse upon themselves by attempting to add to it or take away from it as though it needed fixing.
5 a.m. here, I have to go sleep quickly as my son is sure to wake me in time for church. The lot of shift workers.
God's blessings!
John
