bearshark, read LTCM article in Business Week page 160. Very interesting reading, and more so nobody went to jail after gambling with FDIC insured money.

Just think of all teh money lost by so many people and teh whole turmoil in the market after teh FED lowered only 1/4 point.

As volatility did not subsided, VIX hit 50 on Oct 8, AG was forced to lower an additional 1/4 point. "to calm the market" which actually was to save the swap seller, who were FDIC insured banks.

For exmple if yoou take out a loan and submit false financial statement or make any false representation or hide any liabilities you go to jail for up to 30 years and are fined at least $1 million onder USC 18, Chapter 1014.

Instead those guys and their banking counterparts walk free
