<<Lest not forget Micropolis that was super duper big >>

Micropolis was never "super duper big". Where the heck do you get such notions? Micropolis never, in their entire history, had more then 4-5% market share and tried to focus on a niche where economies of scale killed them.

"You have to look at what they did - was a first in major mega storage manufacture geared towards high end LAN backup. It was the drive of choice by Lockheed Martin concerning storage protection and encription, etc......"

"Not only IBM - but Compaq, Apple (division with Quantum), Gateway, Dell and others."

"Seagate did look towards Europe as their manufacture base (usage of the investment conditions) - now they pull out sighting competition from you know who."

"By dilutive - I was talking about diversity within its protfolio - The reason I brought this up was that their hard disk side is now not a major force for them and relying more on their software buyouts or investments in other companies, of which Veritas is one of them."

"If you want me to break it down into simple terms, however, I still don't see what your issue is, I was pointing out certain positives on both sides, one side is moving away from Hard disks the other side remains a strong force in drive manufacture."
