The group of 41 semi-equip stocks has had a marvelous run over the
last 3 weeks, and it may not be over. Since the close on 10/9/98
until this Friday, 10/30/98, the group average is up a whopping 51
percent. The SOX-X has also been on a roll, but could only manage a
31 percent increase over that same period.

Shown in the table is the performance of each individual stock in the
group over the last 3 week period. All of the stocks except one,
MICN, had double digit gains. The top stock of the group, AFLX, ran
away with top honors - it was no contest - with a gain of 190
percent! The top ten stocks in the group all had gains of over 80
percent.

As good as these gains are, however, there may be more to come in
short order. The reason is that even after the spectacular gains of
the last 3 weeks, the group average closed at 616 today. Last year
in October, the week ending 10/10, the group average closed at 1452.
In order to get back to that high point, the group average has to
increase another 136 percent. This implies that no matter how good
the price rise in the group average has been to date, more good news
should be waiting in the future.
