TO ALL
Can somebody help me? I remember reading somewhere that INTC manufacturing facilities for a type of chip, like the Celeron, are identical to each other. So, if you go to the one in Ireland it's the same inside as the one in Texas. Did I imagine this or is it true? Also, if anybody knows where this is written up, I would really appreciate the reference.
Thanks
David

Tenchusatsu,>>>Anyone can take an old 486 computer, connect a network card and hard drive to it, and call it a "file server." (Then you can even add a printer and you've got a "print server!")<<<

Anyone can. Small companies have been doing it for years - 15 years at least. You can take virtually any PC with a network card and attach it to (let's say) a 3COM 8,16,24, or 48 port hub and get a license for Novell netware for the appropriate number of users and you have a LAN using a cheap computer (you can even use a 286 - it will still work). Only you need to get another cheap PC and attach a printer to it and use it as a print server (a 286 will do nicely).

If Paul Fiondella is still monitoring this thread - he could tell you all about it. I think he installs LANs for a living.

This stuff has been around for years - I don't know what rudedog is talking about when he says Compaq is developing a cheap server.

Mary
