book to bill is at historic lows. Last time I looked it was 0.54 (or close to that level). This means that for every dollar shipped, there is only slightly more than 50 cents of new orders. This has been going on for quite a while so even that 50 cents is quite far away from the go go times in early 1997. Hence it looks like NO business.

Perfect example is KLIC, stock bounced with the rest of the semi equips and as a back end equipment maker, everybody says it'll be the first to show signs of life...sorry, they just announced another round of layoffs and although they got a few unexpected orders this past Q, the future looks terrible.
