I was not aware that AOL bought ICQ. I think that just underscores my point. AOL knew that ICQ was a threat. Chat boards and Instant Messages are AOL's only distinguishing features (oh and a truly pathetic interface <g>).

If you can get those for free why have AOL? I'm surprised ICQ is still around considering their new owner. But consider, now AOL can control ICQ's growth and still profit from it's limited success effectively neutralizing the threat.

All this goes back to ATHM. In a nutshell, do you feel that ATHM will beat the FCC and AOL to become the next "big thing"? I think ATHM has a shot and am trying to figure out if there has been a significant development that should make me think otherwise.
